Main Street Bartow, Inc. is putting a new spin on economic development with an innovative approach to creating attention to some of their unoccupied buildings and spaces in their Main Street District. They will be joining the current trending craze of Pop-Up Art Galleries with a slight twist. Instead of staging the art in one location for the art work to be viewed, they have put the artwork in the windows of the unoccupied buildings or spaces as a means to draw attention to the space. Along with the “Art” is a fact sheet regarding the specs of the building or space as well as some suggested ideas, and potential possibilities that could fill the space. The featured Artwork is innovative as well as it is made from your phone. AppArt is simply taking a picture of something, (without a copyright infringement) the picture is then edited on a phone via phone editing apps.
AppArt artists selected were from Bartow, Lakeland, Miami & Melboure. An opening reception will be held on August 21st, at 6:00pm, during the monthly Main Street Friday Fest in one of the available buildings being featured (215 E, Main St.), followed by a walking tour of the art locations.
The Pop Up Art Tour is a project of the Main Street Bartow Design Committee, lead by Chairman Dan McDaniel, who will join AppArt artists on hand, as well as realtors, to show the buildings/spaces, and will be available to answer any questions about the 10 buildings/ spaces featured in the tour.
