Swan City Piano Festival Returns to Lakeland June 8-11

The Swan City Piano Festival is a music festival taking place in Lakeland, Florida, from June 8-11, featuring a lineup of diverse artists and events for all ages and interests. The festival’s centerpiece is three main concerts featuring Jihye Chang, Tal Cohen, and Sun-A Park. Jihye Chang will present an exciting and surprising program of new and old works for piano, including the world premiere of a new solo piano work by Lakeland native composer Erica Porter. Tal Cohen, a Grammy Award-winning jazz pianist from Miami, will present an immersive concert of his works at the Polk Museum of Art, and Sun-A Park, a recording artist, worldwide soloist, and UCF Faculty member, will present a recital of piano classics at First Presbyterian Church.

The festival also offers exciting events for the whole family, such as an introduction to the festival by Charles Hulin of Southeastern University, interactive and exploratory activities for young kids presented by New York-based theatre educator Claire Fleitz and local musician Derik Thomas, and two masterclasses by Sun-A Park and USF Faculty Eunmi Ko presented for local piano students.

All events are free, but reservations are required for masterclasses and children’s events, and recommended for the concerts. The Swan City Piano Festival was founded by Robert and Patrick Fleitz in 2019 and is dedicated to bringing the best of Florida’s musicians together in Lakeland through the beauty of piano music of all kinds.
