Easter Sunrise Service Will Be Held Virtually for the First Time in 94 Years

Lake Wales, FL – For more than 93 years, Bok Tower Gardens has ushered in Easter morning with a magnificent Sunrise Service. In compliance with State of Florida guidelines, Bok Tower Gardens is offering a virtual Facebook Live service on Sunday, April 12 at 7 A.M.
The virtual service will include a message from Rev. Tim Nunez, Rector of the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, Lake Wales, and sacred carillon music performed by Geert D’hollander via Facebook Live.
Crowds of more than 2000 worshippers gather on the Great Lawn each year. The Easter Sunrise Service is the longest-running event at Bok Tower Gardens, and for the first time, the service will be offered globally to digital audiences.
The Gardens are closed until further notice. Online donations are greatly appreciated during this time of closure and can be made here or by visiting boktowergardens.org
“Edward Bok started this service before the Gardens were officially open to the public in 1929. We are hoping our efforts to transition to a virtual service will allow the positive message, and beautiful music to impact viewers from around the globe. For those of faith, Easter is a time for reflection and honoring the ultimate sacrifice. This year we gather and worship in exciting, new ways,” said David Price, Bok Tower Gardens President, and CEO.
