Swan City Piano Festival Announces Events

Events are postponed until further notice.

Highlighted by evening piano recitals at the Polk Museum of Art on March 26th and 27th, the Swan City Piano Festival is a 3-day event in beautiful downtown Lakeland featuring world-class pianists Yvonne Chen and Maxwell Foster, and composers Liliya Ugay and Alexia Riner. Composers Liliya Ugay and Alexia Riner have been commissioned to each write a piece especially for the festival. Free daytime masterclasses will take place at the Lakeland Library during the day, as well.  Tickets and further information can be found on our website: www.swancitypianofestival.com.

Opening Night Party

Come celebrate the first year of the Swan City Piano Festival!

This party will be a fun and casual chance to meet the artists, and connect with the community at one of Lakeland’s most fun new spots, The Yard on Mass.

In addition, there will be live performances by Jessie Cohen and Carl Fleitz, a special pop-up performance by the artists, and a DJ set by festival composer-in-residence Alexia Riner.

Composer Presentations — Alexia Riner and Liliya Ugay

Festival guest composers Alexia Riner and Liliya Ugay share engaging presentations about their work, and their two wildly different approaches to music and careers in the industry. We will hear both from Liliya Ugay, a composition professor at Florida State University and an accomplished composer of chamber, orchestral, and operatic music; as well as Alexia Riner, an electronic music producer, vocal performer, artist, and DJ. Meet these two composers before you hear their fabulous approaches to the piano!

This event is free and open to all.

Maxwell Foster Solo Recital

Australian pianist Maxwell Foster presents a program of solo piano works, featuring a world premiere by composer and FSU professor Liliya Ugay.

The concert will begin at 7:30, with snacks and a pre-concert talk by Robert Fleitz at 6:30.

Piano Masterclass with Maxwell Foster

We’re super excited to host a public masterclass with Maxwell Foster at the Lakeland Public Library. Young pianists from around Lakeland will be performing live for an interactive and exciting class with Maxwell, who is pursuing his DMA in Piano from Peabody Conservatory.

Yvonne Chen Solo Recital

Pianist Yvonne Chen presents a program of recent solo piano works including a world premiere by Alexia Riner.
