Share your favorite historic and heritage sites by participating in the Picture Polk History photography contest.
Polk County History Center is pleased to announce ‘Picture Polk History’ a photography contest open to amateur photographers only. Cash prizes will be awarded. Participants are invited to explore Polk County’s History and Heritage Trail and capture distinctive images of our unique historic buildings, places and events. The Photographs must feature a museum, a monument, a historic building, a cemetery, or a local festival that is listed on the Polk County Heritage Trail. You can consult the History & Heritage Guide to Polk County brochure online at www.polkhistorycenter.org or you may contact the Polk County History Center to check the master list of historical sites.
“We are looking forward to a wide array of images from historical sites across the county,” says Myrtice Young of the Polk County History Center. “We can’t wait to see Polk County’s unique sense of place captured in this photography exhibit.”

Photography entries will be on display at the Polk County History Center on Thursday, May 22th. Images of excellent artistic and historic quality will remain on display from May 22nd through November 29th, 2014 as part of the Picture Polk History exhibit at the Polk County History Center. Winners will be announced at the opening reception May 22nd. Cash prizes will be awarded. Photographs will be on display in the gallery from May 22nd until December 29th.
