Feb 1 & 2: Bok Tower Gardens Celebrates Founder's Day Weekend

February 1 & 2 – Founder’s Day Weekend 8 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Join Bok Tower Gardens in celebrating our 85th anniversary with a weekend of up-close and-personal experiences at the Gardens. The Gardens is open free of charge on Saturday, February 1 in honor of this special occasion, with a variety of activities taking place throughout the weekend.
February 1 –Dedication Day Celebration 11 a.m.
Japanese drums will sound throughout the Gardens to invite all present to the Singing Tower for a ceremony featuring the National Anthem and presentation of the colors by the Lake Wales High School ROTC. Special guests, including former U.S. Senator Bob Graham will speak about the rich history and passion of Edward W. Bok, followed by a major announcement affecting the future of the Gardens. February 1 & 2 Crossing the Moat 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Take part in a rare opportunity to pass through the historic iron Yellin gates and see the Great Brass Door up close. Visitors can stop to take pictures and examine the immaculate detail of the brass répousse panels depicting the story of creation in Genesis. The moat will close during concerts and the Dedication Ceremony. Included with admission.
February 1 – Tree Planting 2 p.m. – 2:45 p.m.
In keeping with Edward Bok’s enduring interest in nature, the Gardens will present 2,500 longleaf pine seedlings to visitors to plant at home, following a special tree planting ceremony at 2 p.m. The trees serve as a memento of the anniversary and a tangible way to follow the advice given to a young Edward by his grandmother to “make you the world a bit better or more beautiful because you have lived in it.”
February 1 & 2 – Carillon Concerts 1 & 3 p.m.
Celebrate the 85th anniversary of the Gardens with live carillon concerts performed and arranged by Carillonneur Geert D’hollander. Included with admission.
