The series takes place on the third Tuesday every month from 12 to 1pm. Democratic Dialogues is a monthly speaker series that seeks to highlight subjects from US democracy and to help encourage community discussion and create an engaged voter base in Polk County. On the first Saturday of each month from November through April, join Polk County History Center for a tour of Oak Hill Cemetery in Bartow. Learn about the pioneer families and war veterans interred at the cemetery.  The cemetery ground is uneven and visitors are advised to wear appropriate footwear. Meet at the History Center for the one-mile walk to the cemetery.

Voices and Votes: Democracy in America Opening Reception

Join us in celebrating the grand experiment that is democracy in America this election year with the opening of Voices and Votes: Democracy in America, a traveling exhibit from the Smithsonian Institute. In collaboration with the Lakeland chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the exhibit opening features refreshments and living history reenactments by the Lakeland chapter of the Children of the American Revolution. The opening reception is October 23, 6-8pm.
