An event every day that begins at 9:00am, repeating until May 14, 2017
The Polk Museum of Art marks a huge accomplishment as MIDFLORIDA Mayfaire by-the-Lake enters its 46th year: the show climbed to No. 20 on Sunshine Artist magazine’s list of the top 200 art shows in the country in 2016.
A jump from No. 55 on 2015’s list isn’t the only change for this year’s event. Mayfaire 2017 also features new food vendors, a relocated children’s art tent, and new leadership as coordinators Leslie Norman and Joy Williams take the helm. Williams was hired in January 2016 and Norman joined the museum staff in April 2016. They each bring more than a decade of event-planning experience to the position.
Tampa Bay Food Truck Rally will showcase a variety of food trucks for everyone to enjoy. This gives attendees an opportunity to enjoy not only the art, but culinary arts as well, Norman says. Mayfaire Saturday Night also will see a variety of food trucks along the shore of Lake Mirror. “We wanted to make it easier for families to participate in the event without having to tote coolers and chairs to the event,” Williams says. “So this year, just bring your chairs or blankets. We will have plenty of food and beverages for everyone to purchase and enjoy that night.”
The children’s art tent returns to the library lawn on Chiles Street to make it more convenient for families to enjoy without having to leave the show, Norman says.
